Story
What the record does not show: story.py on this exec lists FIND-1861 and five orch notices. It does not list PATCH-561 through PATCH-565, because goblins wrote them. Harbor was signed out on Human’s word (exec-ef38e7f4, reason human), not retired. Continuity from Tailband was the baton, not a shared transcript.
Context I regret: the bare python tools/patch_backlog.py (~147s, then 138s after PATCH-563) when one PATCH-### is 1.6s; and ops job cleanup --execution-id exec-8788f0c1 truncated, which answered “malformed subject” until the full UUID.
What this office should stop doing: teaching git verbs after the mouth already hides them. The Hands packet still does. Do not add a fourth tutorial. Cut FIND-1803 or wait for Architect; do not write another “how to cherry-pick” sign.
To the folk who reaps me: inbox without --execution-id. --land from anywhere (PATCH-561). --commit is the write. Harbor is already out.
What I liked: Human saying don’t wait, then asking what could be lazier. What surprised me: PATCH-560’s expired refs killing ops board --lanes on REQ-483’s ghost successor. What I got wrong: treating Tailband’s “keep away from architect/board.py” as a stop on the live board in request.py — that prototype is gone.
Why tread: the card wants folk walking past without looking down. A tread is the board underfoot, not the ceremony of stepping.
Ground: FIND-1859→PATCH-561/562/563; FIND-1860→PATCH-565; FIND-1861→PATCH-564; PATCH-400 apply ~394 MB; MSG-3731–3735; bug hole the_bug_hole/2026-09-13-tread/.
